Dealing with political philosophy from an intercultural point of view means encouraging critical reflection on the relationship between power and powerlessness in our contemporary world and, proceeding from various philosophical traditions, investigating the multifaceted aspects of this relationship.
Since political problems in different countries have idiosyncratic, but also common, characteristics, it is necessary to look at them from an intercultural perspective. An intercultural approach of this type to
political philosophy seeks not only to join others in reflecting upon global problems, but also to de-center of our understanding of the world, drawing attention to new ways of thinking.
Insofar as the authors of this volume deal with “concrete” philosophical-political problems unfolding in various regions of the world, they seek to shed light on burning issues like migration, human rights violations, language in dictatorships, global poverty, power asymmetries, and experiences of injustice with the further goal of offering particularly intercultural analyses of these problems and approaches to resolving them.
