This session of the Pragmatic Academic series will deal with the topic of academic CVs and motivational letters. Our panel members will share some of their experiences with hiring processes in academic philosophy and discuss what, in their view, makes a convincing application.

We encourage PhD scholars interested in post-doc positions and advanced MA students looking for prae-doc funding to join our session! Students will have the opportunity to hand in questions prior to the session, which will be forwarded to panel members (to send a question, write an email to, with the subject: “Question to panelists”).

Planned Schedule:

  • 16:00-16:15: Welcome and introduction by the organizers
  • 16:15-16:30: Input Talk from CV-counselor’s perspective
  • 16:30-16:45: Input Talk from the recruiter’s perspective
  • 16:45-17:00: Input Talk from the applicant’s perspective
  • 17:00-17:10: Break
  • 17:10-approx. 17:45: Open Discussion
