I am a philosopher who works at the intersection of metaphysics, the philosophy of mind and action and the philosophy of biology. I am convinced that bringing together the perspectives and insights of these disciplines is indispensable with regard to many of the big questions of philosophy. I also draw on the multifarious resources provided by the history of philosophy. Themes of my academic research include personhood and personal identity, biological identity and the concept of life, agency and free will, dispositional realism, persistence, the nature of processes, the metaphysics of pregnancy and meta-metaphysics. Currently I am the PI of the Elise Richter research project "Bio-Agency and Natural Freedom" which is funded by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF). I am a member of the Young Academy of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.
